Report Anonymization Documentation

Report Anonymization

Anonymization is the highest level premium feature that allows reporters to hide their identity on public report pages. This means that when a report is viewed by others, the reporter's name and website will not be displayed.

This documentation page provides an overview of the Report Anonymization feature, including how to set it up and manage your reports.

Enabling Report Anonymization

Report anonymization is available in certain paid plans. To enable it, you need to subscribe to a plan that includes this feature.

Enabling by Default

Go to your reporter profile settings to set whether you want to anonymize all new reports by default.

Enabling for Individual Reports

You can choose to anonymize individual reports while submitting them. This can be done through the report submission form on the FraudRecord website or through our API.

Our API allows submitting a report anonymously if the reporter profile has a plan that allows report anonymization. Otherwise the API will silently ignore the anonymization request and accept the report as is.

Overriding Anonymization Settings

If anonymization by default is enabled, all new reports submitted by your reporter profile will be anonymized by default. You can still choose to show your identity on individual reports if needed.

If anonymization by default is not enabled, you can still choose to anonymize individual reports while submitting them or edit existing reports to anonymize them later.

These overrides apply to both the web interface and the API.

Changing Report Anonymization Afterwards

You can edit reports at any time to activate or remove anonymization through the web interface.

If you stop subscribing to a plan that allows report anonymization, all reports submitted with anonymization will remain anonymized, but you will not be able to submit new reports with anonymization enabled until you upgrade your plan again.

You can remove anonymization from existing reports at any time, even after you lose access to the anonymization feature. You cannot re-enable anonymization on existing reports if you are not subscribed to a plan that allows it.

Note

Even with report anonymization enabled, the client may be able to infer the identity of the reporter based on the report details and their past experiences with companies.

Report Responses

When a report is anonymized, the client can still respond to the report. The response will be visible to the reporter and a notification email will be sent, but the reporter's identity will remain hidden to the client.
